Hedy Lamarr was co-inventor with George Antheil of the first version of the spread spectrum that would allow long distance wireless communications. Although I believe most of us know her mainly because of her artistic career in Hollywood in the 30s-50s.
Behind that glamour there was many woman also fighting for their rights and beliefs. Each women that wanted to go against the status quo had to fight and be persistent to get to the life they wanted to live. Some did well, others not so much, but what is clear is that evolution does not reside in conformity. Today we are where we are thanks to them.
This painting wishes to pay tribute to the women who did not conform and to remember that the eyes of someone who looks with hope are strong enough to break with the imposition.
In many cultures, triangles are one of the most complex and meaningful symbols. They represent balance and wisdom through their proportion but they also have a very especial meaning which is the three stages of time: past, present and future. Through the colours and direction of each triangle, I believe everyone can relate each triangle to their present and past experiences and hopes for the future. In that canvas you can see on the left the side of the woman that people see, however on the right each triangle is the composition of emotions and stories that she has lived. Each color, shape and direction means a moment in time. And what each triangle means, is up to you and your life…
